Prairie Style home plans take their aspects from the Arts and Crafts Movement of the 19th century in England yet incorporates the Midwestern American elements of prairie lifestyle. When designing our house plans, a default foundation is set for a given plan. If possible, we include options to change the foundation type to better match your construction needs. Following the Chicago World Fair of 1893, the modern architecture of the prairie-style house was born. The American-style prairie architecture features low-pitched hipped roofs with deep overhangs, low but strong horizontal lines, and bands of windows and natural materials. Highly influenced by the famous architect Frank Lloyd Wright, the Prairie House style was most popular from 1900 to 1930 in the American Midwest. The typical low-pitched roof and overhanging eaves give these homes a flat, horizontal appearance.
